Explicit Language

To cuss or not to cuss, is the question. This is a question that can only be answered by the writer. Is foul language a character trait? Will this offend the readers? Is it age-appropriate for your audience? There are many questions that should be considered. The most important question to ask yourself about explicit language is, do you care who reads it and what they think of it?

When I write love scenes I have a hard time using the word pus. For me, it sounds like a word that should be in an erotica book and not a regular romance. I have the same problem with using the word Di**. Though it sounds silly when you refer to those body parts as a love box or something equally pleasing to the ear. If you are going to use real words like the P-word or the D-word put a disclaimer near the bottom of the product description page. Ex: This eBook is intended for mature audiences due to language and sexual situations. Also, set the age limit when entering the metadata for the book.
